Artist Statment
"My art is always evolving and changing. At times I am attracted to details, and at times I am
bothered by exact rendering. As I work I find that the painting dictates itself to me,
and I have very little say about it. I often start a painting with one thing in mind only
to be taken in a completely different direction later in the project. I think it is important
for an artist to follow this inner instinct rather than insist on achieving a predetermined goal.
I work best late at night, usually until
3 or 4am. I find that time of night to be so peaceful and quiet that my mind can be clearer
than other times of the day. I put music on that inspires me and then start. I very
seldom do pre-sketches. I like the mysterious interaction with my subconscious and emotions.
I like to let the creative process unfold naturally. I work until I feel instinctively
that painting is finished. Sometimes I finish projects years after starting them.
Long or short, every piece of art always proves to be an interesting and fulfilling journey."
